GRASP Virginia Last Dollar Scholarships

Introduction
Students enrolled at any high school served by GRASP who have had a meeting with their GRASP advisor may apply for Last Dollar Scholarships. These awards —made possible by the generosity of our corporate and individual donors—are intended to cover costs not fully met by a student’s financial aid package, such as books, computers, and other essential expenses, and help students attend the college or technical program to which they have been accepted.

Overview
GRASP will provide $1,000 scholarships to selected students for their first year at a Virginia community college. Awards are eligible for renewal for a second year, provided the recipient remains in the same credential or transfer program. Recipients must enroll at a Virginia Community College either to earn a career certificate or with the intention of transferring to a Virginia four-year public or private institution (many of which participate in Guaranteed Admissions Agreements with the community colleges).

Albert James Shoosmith Scholarship Program

Overview
The Albert James (Bert) Shoosmith Scholarship was created by the Virginia Nursery & Landscape Association (VNLA) in 2003 to assist students pursuing their first undergraduate degree. VNLA will award at least two scholarships of $1,500 each to students enrolled in a four-year college or university for the upcoming academic year, and at least two scholarships of $750 each to students enrolled in a two-year community college program. Awards will not exceed the educational charges billed by the recipient’s school and will be remitted directly to the institution.
