The NLN Foundation for Nursing Education is proud to be the first member organization to offer scholarships dedicated exclusively to nurse educators. Each year the Foundation awards scholarships of up to $8,000 to support the NLN’s work in developing a strong, diverse nursing workforce to improve health nationally and globally.

The Eight & Forty scholarship is dedicated to supporting healthcare professionals who work with respiratory illnesses in children. Although the organization’s central mission is pediatric lung and respiratory care, we understand that many trainees follow broader clinical paths; nonetheless, candidates planning to focus on pediatrics will receive preferential consideration.

Purpose
The Nursing Loan-for-Service program exists to boost the number of nurses serving in New Mexico communities identified as having workforce shortages by providing educational loans to students entering nursing programs.
Service Obligation and Loan Forgiveness
Each borrower must commit to practicing as a health professional in a designated shortage area within New Mexico as a condition of receiving a loan. Portions of the loan are forgiven for each year the borrower completes service in an approved shortage area; satisfying the entire service obligation makes the borrower eligible for full (100%) loan forgiveness.
