The Florida Stormwater Association Educational Foundation’s (FSAEF) Scholarship Program awards financial assistance to qualified students attending Florida colleges and universities whose educational interest is in stormwater. The FSAEF will be offering awards of at least $2,000 per recipient. Applications are accepted annually from graduate students in colleges or schools of engineering, natural science, public administration (or closely related fields) that have an interest in stormwater such as water quality, stormwater management, or stormwater finance. Eligibility is limited to students in good standing that are enrolled in a graduate program at a Florida college or university and plan to attend classes for the Fall semester. Applications are released in January with a deadline to apply in August. Awards are presented each December at FSA's Winter Conference. Scholarship Details
Program Description: The Florida Stormwater Association Educational Foundation’s Scholarship Program awards financial assistance to qualified graduate students attending Florida colleges and universities whose educational interest is in stormwater topics such as water quality, stormwater management, stormwater finance.
Eligibility: Applications will be accepted from graduate students in colleges or schools of engineering, natural science, public administration (or closely related fields) that have an interest in stormwater science, stormwater engineering, or stormwater finance. Eligibility is limited to students in good standing that are currently enrolled on a full-time basis in a graduate program at a college or university in the state of Florida, and plan to attend classes during the Fall semester.
Awards: The scholarships will be presented during the FSA Winter Conference in December. Scholarship recipients are expected to attend the Conference, provide an acceptance video, make brief remarks when accepting the award, and prepare a digital Poster Presentation for display that illustrates a recent stormwater-related project or research effort in which they were involved (see item #5 below). Scholarship recipients will be given a complimentary full Conference registration and hotel stay at the Conference hotel as needed.
Application Process: To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must submit the following information so that it is received by FSAEF on or before August 8, 2025. The maximum number of points for each judging criteria is indicated at the end of each section below:
- A completed application form.
- A letter of transmittal applying for the award. The letter should provide a brief biographical sketch explaining your interest in stormwater and a discussion of your career goals relating to stormwater. The letter should also detail your need for and the intended use of the scholarship. (15 points)
- A letter of recommendation from your major professor(s). (5 points)
- A sealed copy of your official transcripts. If the transcripts are being sent directly from the college, please include a contact phone number to verify mailing. (10 points)
- A brief paper (three page limit) that summarizes a recent stormwater-related project or research effort in which you were involved, or a brief paper that describes the importance of stormwater management in today’s society. Papers that exceed three pages will have points deducted. (20 points)
