Jan La Belle Florida Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Family Network on Disabilities
In 2009, the Jan La Belle Scholarship Program was initiated with the aim of offering financial assistance to individuals with disabilities who aspire to further their personal and professional objectives by enrolling in a post-secondary institution.
Every year, one or more recipients of the Jan La Belle Scholarship are chosen, with the total potential award being non-renewable. The award amounts are determined by various factors, including the funds available and the number of qualified applicants. The Jan La Belle Scholarship provides two application options for individuals with disabilities:
Option A: Academic (Standard Diploma)
- Compliance with all Florida FSA standards or an approved Disability Portfolio;
- Participation or leadership in community service; and
- Receipt of any other scholarship awards.
Option B: Career or Trade Skill Development
- Achievements in the field of interest;
- Participation or leadership in community service; and
- Receipt of any other scholarship awards.
CONDITIONS OF THE AWARD
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 must be maintained at a post-secondary institution during the scholarship award period.
- No criminal activities, arrests, or convictions are allowed.
- Regular attendance is required.
Instead of Florida FSA scores, applicants can submit an alternative method (disability portfolio) that demonstrates compliance with state academic standards.
