Voice of Pork Scholarship — Overview
This scholarship is designed for imaginative students eager to tell the story of pork and agriculture. If you’re studying communications, marketing, public relations, education, or a related discipline and want to connect consumers to the pork industry through engaging content and outreach, this award recognizes students with bold ideas for promoting pork and strengthening the industry’s brand.
What we seek
- Strong interest in both agriculture and communications
- Creative storytellers who can capture and hold an audience’s attention
- Emerging influencers, marketers, or communicators ready to shape pork promotion’s future
- Candidates comfortable using contemporary platforms and formats — social media, video, and other digital media — to reach people
Award details
- Three recipients will be chosen: one $4,000 scholarship, one $1,500 scholarship, and one $1,000 scholarship.
- Each winner may qualify for an additional $500 tied to participation in key activities, such as:
- Young Leaders in Agriculture Conference
- Volunteering or supervising at the Minnesota State Fair
- Attending the Minnesota Pork Congress Awards Reception
- Applications will be evaluated by a panel of Minnesota pig farmers. Judging criteria include clarity and expression, persuasiveness, originality, and topic relevance.
- Application deadline: May 15.
- Winners selected by June 1 and notified by phone.
Eligibility
- Open to high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students pursuing degrees in communications, marketing, public relations, education, or closely related fields.
- Applicants must show involvement or interest in the pork industry (examples: coursework, internships, farm work, FFA/4-H participation, research, etc.).
- Must be a resident of Minnesota.
Growing Ag Scholarship — Overview
This scholarship supports students committed to advancing agriculture through practical solutions and innovative thinking. Whether you’re focused on animal science, agricultural business, veterinary medicine, farm management, public policy, or agricultural law, this award recognizes those prepared to address the industry’s challenges and drive positive change.
What we seek
- Future leaders who will contribute to agriculture’s growth and sustainability
- Inventive problem-solvers ready to tackle modern agricultural issues
- Students interested in applying innovative, practical approaches to create lasting impact in the sector
Award details
- Three recipients will be selected: one $4,000 scholarship, one $1,500 scholarship, and one $1,000 scholarship.
- Each winner may be eligible for an extra $500 for attending or participating in key events, including:
- Young Leaders in Agriculture Conference
- Volunteering or supervising at the Minnesota State Fair
- Attending the Minnesota Pork Congress Awards Reception
- A committee of Minnesota pig farmers will review submissions. Entries are judged on clarity and expression, persuasiveness, originality, and relevance of topic.
- Application deadline: May 15.
- Winners selected by June 1 and notified by phone.
Eligibility
