CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Congressional Black Caucus Foundation
Introductory overview
Created in 1988 by the spouses of members of the Congressional Black Caucus, this scholarship was founded to help meet educational needs in congressional districts after federal reductions in funding for education programs and scholarships—cuts that have disproportionately impacted people of color. The program provides financial support to academically accomplished, highly motivated African-American/Black students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral programs across a range of disciplines.
Eligibility
- African-American/Black students who are graduating high school seniors, as well as those currently pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degrees in various fields, are eligible to apply.
Award amount and selection
- Scholarship awards range from $2,500 to $20,000. Recipients are chosen by the scholarship committee operating out of the CBC Member’s district office.
Payment of the award
- The entire award for the academic year is sent directly to the recipient’s accredited institution. The funds are split evenly between the fall and spring semesters.
