Fort Lauderdale Alumnae Panhellenic awards scholarships that reflect our commitment to character development through service and strong academic achievement. These grants are intended to support young women with solid academic records who are dedicated to helping others. Now accepting applications for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Ralph H. and Ruth Frank Gross Memorial Scholarship — overview
Established in memory of Ralph and Ruth Frank Gross, this fund commemorates their belief in the transformative power of education. The scholarship is designed to assist often-overlooked public-sector employees and their families in Broward County, helping recipients improve their circumstances through continued education. Awards range from $500 to $2,500 per student.
Eligible uses
Funds may be used for undergraduate study at a college or university or for vocational/technical training. Recipients may attend either full-time or part-time. Graduate students are not eligible.
General eligibility requirements
- Demonstrate financial need and not be receiving any other scholarship or grant.
- Be a resident of the State of Florida.
- If the applicant is a graduating high school student, they must have a combined SAT score (Critical Reading + Math) of at least 1100 and provide official high school transcripts.
- Plan to enroll in a college, university, or vocational institute located in Florida (full- or part-time). Graduate programs are excluded.
- Agree to refrain from tobacco use, illegal drugs, and alcohol abuse for the duration of the award.
- Agree not to join a social sorority or fraternity while receiving the award. Membership in honorary, academic, or professional Greek organizations is permitted.
- Note: Applicants whose employers offer tuition reimbursement programs may be ineligible for this scholarship.
Specific eligibility — applicant must meet at least one of the following
- Current full-time employee of a governmental entity in Broward County.
- Retired or former employee who worked full-time for a governmental entity in Broward County for a continuous period of at least five years.
- Former employee who became disabled as a result of performing job duties while employed full-time for at least five years at a governmental entity in Broward County.
- A spouse or former spouse (married at least five years), or a child, of either:
- a person currently employed full-time by a governmental entity in Broward County;
- a person who meets one of the employment conditions listed above (retired, disabled, or past full-time employee with five continuous years); or
- a person who was killed in the line of duty while employed full-time for at least five years at a governmental entity in Broward County.
