SILA Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Securities and Insurance Licensing Association Foundation
Intro
The SILA Foundation is offering ten scholarships, each worth $2,000, to students pursuing careers in the insurance and securities fields. Awards may be used at any accredited post-secondary college or university located within the continental United States.
Eligibility
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder).
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.
- Enrolled in one of the accepted fields of study:
- Insurance / Compliance / Risk Management
- Economics
- Financial Advisor / Financial Planner / Broker / Stock Trader
- Finance / Accounting / Actuarial Science
- General Business
- Business Administration
- Business Information
- Business / Management Information Systems
- Law / Paralegal
- Information Technology
Enrollment / Workload Requirements (choose one)
- Enrolled for at least 12 credit hours at an accredited post-secondary institution, OR
- Enrolled for at least 9 credit hours AND employed part-time (minimum 20 hours per week), OR
- Enrolled for at least 6 credit hours AND employed full-time (minimum 32 hours per week).
Required Documents & Application Steps
- Submit a fully completed and electronically signed SILA Foundation Scholarship Application. Applications will only be accepted during the annual open period (January 1 – March 2, 2026).
- Academic transcript demonstrating the required GPA and supporting the stated field of study.
- High school seniors: include your high school transcript. If selected, you must provide your college/university fall enrollment schedule before funds can be released.
- One letter of reference.
- Employment verification letter only if you are applying under the full-time employee option.
Important Information & Deadlines
- Application window: January 1 through March 2, 2026 (the online application is available only for 60 days each year).
- Scholarships apply to the upcoming academic year.
- Awards are decided by the SILA Foundation based on the substance and strength of the materials you submit.
- Selected recipients must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency (examples: U.S. passport, birth certificate, state-issued driver’s license, or USCIS Permanent Resident Card).
- Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to recipients’ schools in September.
Before You Begin the Online Application
Have electronic copies ready to upload:
- Scholastic transcript (or high school transcript for graduating seniors — remember to provide your fall college enrollment schedule if awarded).
- Letter of reference.
- Employment verification letter, if applying as a full-time employee.
