Introduction
The Law Office of George J. Skuros is committed to providing skilled, compassionate representation in divorce, child custody, and other family law matters. We recognize how life-altering these cases can be and believe everyone involved deserves fair treatment under the law. To encourage the next generation of attorneys who will improve family law practice and policy nationwide, we are proud to offer the Law Office of George J. Skuros Justice in Family Law Scholarship.

Award
One student will receive a $1,000 scholarship to be applied toward tuition or other educational expenses at the college, university, or law school where the recipient is enrolled.

Who May Apply
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited undergraduate or J.D. program at a U.S. college or university for Fall 2026.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Hold a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Purpose and Eligible Candidates
This scholarship is intended for current or aspiring law students who are interested in advancing positive change in family law practice and policy.

Application Requirements
Submit all of the following:
1. Essay: A 500–1,500 word essay (PDF format required) addressing the prompt below. Your essay must include at least one citation and be submitted as a single PDF file.
Essay prompt: Select a recent change or reform in family law. Describe how it may affect families and legal professionals, and state whether you view it as progress, explaining your reasoning.
2. Academic transcript (official or unofficial).
3. Contact information: mailing address, phone number, and email address.

Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Demonstrated commitment to the practice and improvement of family law.
- Compliance with submission requirements (PDF essay, citation included, length, transcript, contact details).
- Originality, depth of analysis, and overall quality of writing.

Notification, Award Disbursement, and Publicity
The scholarship recipient for Fall 2026 will be notified by email no later than July 1, 2026. The $1,000 award will be sent directly to the recipient’s school financial aid office for application toward the recipient’s educational expenses. By submitting an application, you agree that if you are selected, your name, essay, and photograph may be used on our website and in related promotional materials.
