Hunt Heroes Foundation Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Hunt Heroes Foundation
Introduction Hunt Military Communities Foundation offers a scholarship program designed to support active duty service members, members of the National Guard or Reserve who have been called to active duty, and their eligible dependents who are pursuing undergraduate or vocational-technical education. Eligibility Applicants must meet all of the following: - Be either: - An active duty service member, National Guard member called to active duty, or Reservist called to active duty in one of the six branches of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Space Force). If selected, you must be prepared to present current military identification to the Sponsor; or - A dependent of an active duty service member. Dependents are defined as natural children, legally adopted children, or stepchildren who live in the service member’s household or are primarily supported by the service member. If selected, you must be able to provide documentation of dependent status (for example, a birth certificate, court-issued custody or guardianship order, and/or a marriage certificate). - Be a high school senior, a high school graduate, or a current undergraduate student planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study (for the entire upcoming academic year) at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical/trade school. Note: active duty service members who are enrolled part-time are eligible to receive an award. Awards and Distribution - Total funding authorized for new awards: $100,000. - Up to 26 scholarships will be awarded: - Fourteen awards of $5,000 each for students attending four-year colleges or universities. - Twelve awards of $2,500 each for students attending two-year institutions or vocational-technical/trade schools. - If there are insufficient eligible applicants in the two-year/vocational-technical category, remaining funds will be reallocated to the next-highest ranked applicants from four-year undergraduate applicants. - $50,000 of the total award funding will be reserved for residents of Hunt Military Communities, provided there are enough eligible applicants from that population; if not, those funds will be returned to the general applicant pool and awarded to other qualified applicants. - Awards are one-time only (not renewable). Previous recipients may reapply in subsequent years if they continue to meet eligibility requirements. - Scholarships are intended solely for undergraduate and vocational-technical or certificate programs. - Service members must be on active duty as of June of the scholarship year to receive payment. Financial need is not a selection factor. Hunt Military Communities Foundation staff or officers do not participate in recipient selection. Decisions made by Scholarship America are final. Acceptance, Forfeiture, and Publicity - Awardees must accept their scholarship within the timeframe provided; failure to accept in that period will result in forfeiture of the award. - Accepting the award requires submission of biographical information and a head-and-shoulders photograph to Hunt Military Communities Foundation. - By accepting an award, recipients acknowledge that Hunt Military Communities Foundation and its subsidiaries may publicize the recipient’s name, school, and any material submitted in the application for public relations and promotional purposes.
