Arts for Life! Annual Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Foundation for Excellence in Education
Columba Bush has long been a dedicated supporter of the arts. While serving as Florida’s First Lady she traveled to classrooms across the state and saw firsthand the powerful effect arts education has on students. She particularly enjoyed meeting high school students and hearing about their aspirations and career goals. With backing from Governor Bush and numerous fellow arts advocates, she launched Arts for Life! in 1999 to help graduating seniors continue their artistic pursuits after high school.
Each year Arts for Life! grants twenty-five $1,000 scholarships to Florida high school seniors who demonstrate excellence in creative writing, dance, drama, music, or visual art. Since its 1999 founding, the program has awarded more than 650 scholarships to talented Florida students. Many alumni have gone on to careers as professional actors, singers and musicians, dancers, visual artists, and art educators.
