William A. Crawford Minority Teacher Scholarship

The Commission is providing scholarships to minority students, specifically Black and Hispanic/Latinx individuals, who have plans to become teachers in an accredited Indiana school after graduation. The student must commit in writing to seek a teaching job in Indiana and, upon employment, serve in the state for a minimum of three years.
For the scholarship to be extended to the following academic years, the minority student (who initially qualified for the scholarship) must reapply annually and uphold the cumulative grade point average (GPA) necessary for admission to the institution’s school of education or at least a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent if the school does not mandate a minimum GPA.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE PROGRAM
The applicant must:
- be a student of minority status
- be a resident of Indiana and a U.S. Citizen or an eligible non-citizen
- be accepted or currently enrolled as a full-time student at an eligible Indiana institution
- be pursuing or planning to pursue a study course that will qualify the student to teach in an accredited Indiana school upon graduation
- commit in writing to seek a teaching job in an accredited Indiana school after obtaining teacher certification and, if employed, to teach for a minimum of three years
- be a full-time student or have plans to enroll as a full-time student
- be an undergraduate student for the first time
- uphold the cumulative GPA necessary for admission to the institution’s school of education
- fulfill any other minimum requirements set by the Commission
