Overview
The LIFE Association Trade Scholarship Fund awards grants of up to $5,000 to Texas high school graduating seniors or individuals who already hold a high school diploma or GED from Texas. Awards are intended for those who plan to enroll in a trade or vocational program leading to a certificate or degree at an accredited Texas community college or a nonprofit trade school. Funds may cover tuition, fees, textbooks, and necessary equipment. Note: for-profit institutions are not eligible.
Eligibility
- Must be a graduating high school senior or a past high school graduate (including GED recipients) from the state of Texas.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (high school or college).
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Must intend to pursue a trade or vocational certificate or degree at an accredited Texas community college or a nonprofit trade school (for-profit schools disqualified).
Selection factors and application requirements
Award decisions consider demonstrated financial need and the applicant’s goals and values as expressed in a required essay. Applicants must complete the FAFSA before submitting their application so the Financial Need section of the Universal Application can be completed. In addition to the essay, applicants must provide two letters of recommendation.
