Earl W Kintner Public Service Scholarship

Introduction
The Foundation of the Federal Bar Association offers the Public Service Scholarship, a $5,000 award for a high school senior who intends to enroll in a four-year college or university. The scholarship is intended to support students with a family connection to the federal legal community.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior planning to attend a four-year college or university.
- At least one parent or guardian must be a current federal government attorney or a federal judge.
About the Fund
This annual scholarship is supported by the Earl W. Kintner Memorial Fund. Earl W. Kintner was a prominent Federal Bar Association member and served twice as the organization’s national president. His professional distinction and civic leadership are the inspirations for this award.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit all of the following:
- Completed online application
- Personal essay
- Official, unaltered academic transcript
- Copy of the college or university acceptance letter for the school the student plans to attend
Selection Criteria
Applications are evaluated on:
- Academic performance
- Demonstrated leadership
- Involvement in school and community service and activities
- The quality and substance of the personal essay, including written communication
Deadlines and Notification
All application materials must be received by the end of April each year. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. Decisions (both recipients and nonrecipients) will be communicated no later than July 31.
