PTSA High School Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Florida PTA
Introduction
Florida PTA is committed to supporting young people’s educational advancement. To further that mission, Florida PTA provides scholarships for qualified students who plan to continue their education after high school. These awards are funded through Honorary Life Memberships, Scholarship Fund events, and other contributions.
Overview of Awards
Each year Florida PTA awards a minimum of four (4) one-time, non-renewable scholarships—one in each of the following categories: University, Fine Arts, Community College, and Vo-Tech. Each scholarship is $2,000 and is intended to help a graduating student from a PTSA high school begin their post-secondary education.
Who May Apply (Eligibility)
To be considered, applicants must submit a complete application package by no later than February 28. Required materials include:
- A completed online application indicating Florida residency.
- A copy of your 2024–2025 PTA/PTSA membership card for your Florida school’s PTA/PTSA or the Sunshine State PTSA. Applicants must have active PTSA membership as of 11:59 PM on January 28. (The scholarship committee will confirm that the applicant’s PTA/PTSA is in good standing.)
- An unofficial Florida high school transcript with cumulative summary pages showing an unweighted high school GPA of at least 2.5. Top finalists may later be asked to submit an official transcript bearing the school district seal in a sealed envelope by mail.
- One letter of recommendation.
- An essay answering the prompt: How can Florida PTA support your school or local community? Identify a specific challenge in your school or community and describe how you believe PTA should address it.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Award Amount and Disbursement
The scholarship is a single-year, non-renewable award of $2,000. Funds will be paid directly to the institution you designate.
