Florida Transportation Builders’ Association (FTBA) Scholarship Information — 2026
Overview
The FTBA offers scholarships to Florida residents who are graduating high school seniors in 2026 and whose parent(s) or legal guardian is a member of, or employed by a firm that is a member of, the Florida Transportation Builders’ Association. Two types of awards are available for 2026: Four‑year Scholarships and Trade Scholarships. Read the descriptions and requirements below carefully.
Scholarship Types
- Four‑year Scholarship
- Awarded in variable amounts and may be renewed annually for up to four consecutive years, provided the recipient demonstrates satisfactory academic progress in their field. The recipient’s school must verify progress each year.
- Eligible candidates must plan to attend an accredited college or university (no geographic restriction on the institution, but the applicant must be a Florida resident).
- Applications will be judged on: the application form, school transcript plus ACT or SAT scores, and letters of recommendation.
- Trade Scholarship
- Awarded in variable amounts and for durations determined by the FTBA Scholarship Committee.
- Applicants must enroll in a technical or vocational program directly related to the road construction industry.
- Applications will be reviewed based on: the application form, high school transcript or GED certificate, and letters of recommendation.
Eligibility & General Rules
- Must be a Florida resident and a 2026 graduating high school senior.
- Parent, parents, or legal guardian must be an FTBA member or employed by an FTBA member firm.
- Applications must be completed online, in English.
- All supporting documents must be uploaded when the application is submitted. Incomplete applications or submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
- Application deadline: March 6, 2026.
Required Documents (Checklist)
To be considered, your submission must include:
- Fully completed online application
- High school transcript signed by your guidance counselor (an electronic signature is acceptable; a certified hard copy is not required)
- SAT or ACT scores (for Four‑year applicants) — Trade applicants should provide high school transcript or GED
- Two letters of recommendation (must be from individuals who are not family members)
- Essay (300–500 words) saved as a Word document and uploaded with the application
Essay Instructions
Write an original scholastic essay of 300 to 500 words and upload it as a .doc or .docx file. Choose one of the following prompts:
1. Describe a significant experience and how it changed you (or your life).
2. What has been your greatest accomplishment?
3. If you could change something outside your front door, what would it be?
4. Describe something you have done that had a positive effect on someone.
Submission Notes
- The online form cannot be saved and revisited later; have all required documents ready before beginning the application.
