Bay Area SMACNA Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Bay Area SMACNA
Introduction
The Bay Area SMACNA Scholarship Trust Fund complements our internship outreach by supporting college students pursuing careers connected to the sheet metal industry. Each year the Trust awards at least 40 tuition-and-book scholarships to undergraduate students working toward bachelor’s degrees.
Award focus and amounts
Individual scholarships may be awarded for up to $6,000. While priority is typically given to students majoring in engineering and construction-related fields, awards have also gone to students in other disciplines. Students who attend the required intern training day and complete a paid internship with a Bay Area SMACNA contractor are eligible for an additional scholarship equal to 50% of their award.
Hardship award
In addition to the regular scholarships, Trustees have established a single Hardship Scholarship of up to $15,000 for a deserving applicant working in the sheet metal/HVAC field who can demonstrate significant financial need.
Application deadline and award timing
All scholarship applications must be received by May 31, 2026. Recipients will be notified in July.
Payment and permitted uses
Scholarship funds may be sent directly to the recipient’s college or university by the Scholarship Fund. Awards cannot exceed the combined cost of tuition and required books and are to be used solely for those expenses.
Employment consideration
Scholarship recipients may be given preference when filling paid positions in the Bay Area SMACNA Summer Intern Program.
