Special Forces Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Sponsored by United States Army Special Forces

Value: $2,000
Awards Available: 200
Deadline : Mar 01, 2026 Deadline Estimated

The Green Berets, also known as the United States Army Special Forces, represent the largest special operations force in our country. For many years, they have been at the heart of military operations worldwide. The families of these brave soldiers also serve our nation, enduring the hardship of repeated deployments into dangerous territories. The Special Forces Scholarship Fund (SFSF) acknowledges the sacrifices made by these families by offering merit-based scholarships for post-secondary education. Our mission is to invest in the families of Special Forces, as we believe that scholarships can transform lives.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Be a child of a current or former United States Army Special Forces Soldier.
  • For undergraduate scholarships, applicants must not be older than 26 years as of October 15, 2026.
  • For graduate scholarships, applicants must not be older than 28 years as of October 15, 2026.
  • Be a full-time student working towards a degree or certification at an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Be a high school senior, a high school graduate, or registered as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited college or post-secondary vocational/technical institute.
  • For graduate school scholarships, applicants must be currently enrolled as a college senior or have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and have applied to an accredited graduate school program.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Both the applicant and their Special Forces Soldier sponsor must read and sign the Statement of Certification on the first page of the application. Only fully completed applications will be considered. If the sponsor is deceased, deployed, or otherwise unable to sign the certification, a statement explaining the situation must be included in the application packet. Applicants must provide official documentation confirming the sponsor’s 18-series military occupational specialty (MOS) or service in a Special Forces Group for a minimum of five years. Acceptable documents include the DD Form 214, ERB, or ORB. Children of non-18-series Soldiers who have served honorably in an active duty group for at least five years are also eligible. To protect the Special Forces Soldier’s Social Security Number, all documentation should be redacted.
