Scholarship Sponsored by Arckey & Steele
Arckey & Steele is committed to the principle that safety is not just a priority, but a duty. We believe in the power of proactive measures to prevent accidents and foster well-being, whether on the road, at work, or within our communities. In line with this, we are excited to announce the Safety First Scholarship, a unique opportunity for students who are dedicated to cultivating safer environments. This scholarship aims to support students who understand and advocate for the significance of safety education.
No matter your field of study—be it public health, law, engineering, or something else—we are eager to learn about your ideas for enhancing safety in everyday life. As part of the application process, students are required to submit an essay that discusses the significance of safety awareness and proposes innovative ways to mitigate risks in their chosen field or community. The most persuasive and thoroughly researched essay will be awarded $1,000 to aid their educational pursuits.
Who Can Apply?
- The Arckey & Steele Scholarship is available to current high school seniors, vocational students, college students, and graduate students who are legal U.S. residents and live in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia. Applicants must be enrolled in a vocational program or a two- to four-year post-secondary institution to be considered.
- Arckey & Steele employees, their immediate family members (parents, children, siblings, and spouses), and individuals living in the same household (whether related or not) are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be in good academic standing to be eligible.
What Are the Application Requirements?
- Applicants must submit an essay of 750-1,000 words in response to the following prompt: Safety is a fundamental duty that affects every facet of our lives—from our workplaces to the roads we use and the communities we inhabit. Identify a specific safety issue that you believe warrants more attention. Explain why this issue is significant, the potential risks it poses, and suggest innovative solutions to enhance safety in this area. Your argument should be supported by research, real-world examples, or personal experiences.
- Please be aware that all essays will be screened for AI writing. If AI writing is detected in the essay, the application will be rejected.
- Applicants must submit a professional resumé detailing their professional and academic experiences.
- Applicants must provide a transcript from their current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school and the most recent official transcript from their previous school. High school students may submit proof of acceptance to their college or university.
- Preference will be given to students from or attending the state’s secondary school.
