As a Federal Attorney, Rammy Barbari is committed to advocating for justice within the legal system. However, his commitment to the community goes beyond the courtroom. He is a firm believer in the importance of defending individual rights, particularly the right to access and acquire knowledge through reading.
With this belief, he established the Right to Read Scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria
- The scholarship is open to legal residents of the United States, residing in any of the 50 states or Washington, D.C. Applicants should be currently enrolled in a vocational program, a two- or four-year college or university. High school seniors intending to join such programs are also encouraged to apply.
- It's important to note that employees of Price Benowitz LLP, their immediate family members (parents, children, siblings, and spouses), and individuals residing in the same household—irrespective of their relationship—are ineligible to apply.
- Applicants should maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be in good academic standing.
Submission Guidelines
- Applicants are required to submit an essay of 750 -1,000 words responding to the following prompt: Is it ever acceptable to ban literature? The prohibition of books infringes on our freedom of expression, and censorship restricts our capacity to form our own judgments and beliefs. Do you believe there are ever circumstances where it's acceptable to censor publications? Please explain your stance.
- Please be aware that all essays will be scrutinized for AI writing. If an essay is found to have been written by AI, the application will be rejected.
- Applicants must provide a professional resumé detailing their professional and academic experiences.
- Applicants are also required to submit a transcript from their current institution. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school, along with the most recent official transcript from their previous school. High school students may provide proof of acceptance to their college or university.
