Intro
Hawaiʻi Self Storage (HSS) launched a scholarship program in 2005 to provide financial assistance to promising students who will become leaders in our communities. Since its inception, HSS has awarded 217 scholarships totaling $868,000.
Program overview
- Each year HSS selects 10–11 Hawaiʻi high school seniors (typically 10 recipients).
- Awards are worth up to $4,000 per student (paid as up to $1,000 per year for up to four years, subject to renewal requirements).
- Recipients are chosen based on eligibility criteria and a required written essay.
Eligibility
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be a resident of Hawaiʻi and a current high school senior who graduates from a Hawaiʻi high school.
- Be accepted to and enroll full-time in an accredited college or university degree program (minimum enrollment of 12 credits). HSS does not fund part-time enrollment. Applicants must provide a letter of acceptance.
- Submit the required application and the essay (only one application is needed to apply).

Submission deadline and announcement dates
- Completed application and essay must be emailed by February 15, 2026.
- Selected recipients will be announced in May 2026.
Scholarship terms
- Awards may be renewed for up to four years, with $1,000 disbursed each year upon meeting renewal requirements (maximum total of $4,000).
- Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to remain eligible for renewal.
- If a recipient does not meet the GPA requirement in a given year, they may regain eligibility in subsequent years if the cumulative GPA meets the 3.0 threshold.
