Making an Impact Scholarship

Overview
The Making an Impact Scholarship awards one student $1,500 to support continued study and to honor sustained volunteer service. If you’ve volunteered—whether by removing litter from public spaces, preparing meals for people experiencing homelessness, or giving time at a hospital—we want to read about your work and recognize your contribution to the community.
Who is eligible
To be considered for the $1,500 Making an Impact Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Be admitted to or currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or graduate program in the United States, OR be enrolled in an accredited U.S. high school.
- Provide proof of enrollment or acceptance to the accredited institution.
- Include an unofficial transcript that shows your GPA, along with documentation of acceptance or enrollment, when you submit your application.
How to apply
Complete the scholarship application form and attach a 1,000–1,500 word essay that clearly describes:
- The volunteer project(s) you carried out.
- The specific ways your work impacted your community.
- Your educational plans.
- How you intend to continue making a difference in your community moving forward.
Essay formatting and required header
On the first page of your essay include a header containing:
- Your full name
- “Making an Impact Scholarship” (scholarship name)
- The name of the institution where you are enrolled or accepted
- The mailing address of your financial aid office (this is where the award will be sent)
- The financial aid office’s email address and phone number
- Your student ID number
Additional essay expectations
- Give your essay a creative, original title.
- Provide a bibliography listing any sources you used (books, websites, articles, reports, etc.).
- Include citations where appropriate.
Submission checklist
- Completed application form
- 1,000–1,500 word essay with the required header, title, citations, and bibliography
- Unofficial transcript showing GPA
- Proof of acceptance or current enrollment at an accredited U.S. institution
